Forklift Truck Training On The Increase!

Is Forklift Truck Training on the Increase?

February was a busy month in our forklift truck division as we trained 75 operators on a range of forklifts.  This trend is continually growing, especially as over 50% of the trainees attended were refresher candidates!  It is recommended for refresher training to take place every 3 years, to ensure competency or more frequently if the operator has been off ill for a period of time, has a near miss or is involved in an incident.

As an RTITB accredited centre we can offer our customers a choice of whether they prefer to be certified and enrolled on NORS (National Operators Registration Scheme) or whether they prefer the Certificate of Competence certification.  Of the 42 operators who attended their refresher training 87% opted for the certificate of competence route!

Refresher candidates = 42

Novice candidates = 22

Existing / Conversion = 11

The counterbalance forklift truck is the most widely used forklift truck in industry, so there will be no surprise to know that 67% of the operators trained in February gained their counterbalance forklift truck certificate.  Pedestrian pallet and reach truck operators accounted for 13% and 12% respectively. Whilst the more specialised MHE, high level order picker, pivot steer and VNA trainees accounted for only 8% combined of the total number of people trained throughout February.

Training can be arranged to take place at our training centre* or alternatively at our customer premises.
